Welcome
to
Virtual Seasons Seasons made by fans for fans! If,
like us, you have always wondered what would have happened in the
show had Pete Duel continued as Heyes, then hopefully you will enjoy
our Virtual Seasons!
What
is a Virtual Season?
A
virtual season is a series of fan fiction stories which continue the
story of a cancelled TV series. The stories adhere closely to
the spirit and feel of the original show.
We
will "air" one episode per week during the season - just
like the original series.

Pete
Duel
When Pete Duel, who played the original Hannibal Heyes in
Alias Smith
and Jones, died in December 1971, the series continued for the remaining
five episodes of season 2 and a further season 3 with the role of
Heyes being played by Roger Davis.

Pete
Duel's death (a probable suicide) was traumatic for his many fans
and though many continued to enjoy the series, many were also unable
to accept the casting change. For many, there is only one
Hannibal Heyes. This is not a reflection on Roger Davis
himself, just a reaction to a very sad event.
Our
Virtual Seasons of course star Pete Duel as Heyes and Ben Murphy as Kid Curry
and follow on from Pete Duel's final episode, The Men Who Corrupted
Hadleyburg.

Hannibal Heyes and Kid Curry, the two most successful outlaws
in the history of the West and in all the trains and banks
they robbed, they never shot anyone. This made our two
latter day Robin Hoods very popular - with everyone but the
railroads and the banks.

"There's one thing we gotta get Heyes"
"What's that?"
"Out of this business"
---
"The Governor can't come flat out and give you amnesty
now, first you've got to prove you deserve it"
"Ah, so all we have to do is just stay out of trouble til
the Governor figures we deserve amnesty?"
"But in the meantime we'll still be wanted?"
"Well, that's true. Til then only you, me and the
Governor will know about it. It'll be our secret."
---
"I sure wish the Governor would let a few more people in
on our secret."
